CoreFX Ingredients acquires Connoils to expand novel delivery systems portfolio

Illinois-based CoreFX Ingredients LLC has announced its acquisition of the manufacturing assets of Connoils LLC, a boutique nutritional technology company specializing in powder delivery systems and specialty oil distribution.

According to a press release, the acquisition enables CoreFX to strengthen its customer-first philosophy, expanding research and development and enhancing its technical resources.

“The acquisition of Connoils is a perfect complement to our business, elevates our powder-delivery systems through a novel encapsulation technology and is an important next step in the continued growth of our Health through Nutrition platform.”

CoreFX’s proprietary processes convert natural, plant and dairy-based oils into highly stable, convenient powders that are clean label, neutral-tasting, highly dispersible and customizable. Its brands include OmegaFX, NutriCoreFX, CreamerCoreFX, CheezeCoreFX and DairyCoreFX in addition to a new line of bioactive compounds.

The newly acquired Connoils technology will preserve the nutritional value of active nutrients using an advanced process that minimizes heat during the transformation of the active into powder, said CoreFX in the release. This method protects the active compounds and maximizes potency, delivering high quality, bioavailable ingredients for optimal nutritional integrity.

A big 2024 for CoreFX so far

The acquisition marks the first big news for the company since founder Denis Neville acquired a majority stake in CoreFX Ingredients from global dairy co-operative Ornua (which acquired the CoreFX Ingredients business in 2016).

Michael McCarthy, director of sales and marketing, told NutraIngredients-USA that that nine former Connoils team members became part of CoreFX and were quickly integrated into the CoreFX family. All of these individuals are located in Big Bend, WI, the former Connoils manufacturing plant. The plant will maintain operations as usual, he said.

“In terms of an integration plan, much of our R&D work will happen at the Big Bend location, and there will be much cross pollination between our Evanston, IL, Orangeville, IL and Big Bend WI, locations,” McCarthy added.
