People on the move: The Nature’s Bounty Co., MegaFood, USP, and more

From new advisory roles to new C-suite members, here’s a quick update of people on the move in the dietary supplements industry.

New CFO for The Nature’s Bounty Co., Ted McCormick

The Nature’s Bounty Co. announced this week that it has named a new CFO, Ted McCormick, who will be reporting to President and CEO Paul Sturman effective December 10, 2018.

Most recently Mr. McCormick was CFO of Roland Foods LLC, one of the largest branded specialty food importer in the US. In that role, he oversaw the transformations of the Finance and IT functions, significantly upgrading systems and capabilities.

Prior to Roland Foods, Ted held a number of senior finance roles at Unilever across its global Supply Chain, Foods and Home & Personal Care businesses; most notably as CFO at the Pepsi/Lipton Partnership and CFO at Ben & Jerry's.

MegaFood names Dr. Tieraona Low Dog as Chief Medical Advisor

Integrative medical physician Tieraona Low Dog, MD, is now a chief medical advisor for two of MegaFood’s vitamin and dietary supplement brands, MegaFood and INNATE Responde.

In this new consulting position, Dr. Low Dog will use her expertise in the fields of integrative medicine, herbal medicine, and dietary supplementation to drive increased awareness and advocacy for the company’s whole foods-based approach in designing supplements.

She has worked with MegaFood before, previously on INNATE Response's practitioner education programs and product formulation efforts. She also developed MegaFood's line of gender- and age-specific multivitamins designed to support the health of men and women during various life stages.

"I am delighted and honored to take on this advisory position with MegaFood, a company that shares many of the values that I hold dearly,"​ said Dr. Low Dog.

Susan Winckler named chair of USP Board of Trustees

Susan Winckler

USP announced that Susan C. Winckler, Rph, JD, has been elected chair of its board of trustees. She is currently president of Leavitt Partners Solutions and chief risk management officer for the Leavitt Partners family of business.

She is also a pharmacist and attorney, with extensive experience in regulatory issues related to the pharmaceutical and foods industries. She is a former chief of the staff for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), former president and CEO of the Food and Drug Law Institute, and former vice president for policy and communications for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

"As USP is preparing to celebrate its 200th​ anniversary, the organization is continuing its mission to help ensure medicine quality and patient safety in an era of unprecedented innovation and a globalized market,"​ said Winckler. "There could not be a more exciting time to serve on the board and I am honored to be elected by my colleagues to this position."

Former president at GNC Nutrition named chairman of Stemtech

Darryl V. Green, formerly president of domestic and global franchising at GNC Holdings Inc., was named chairman of the board at Stemtech, a dietary supplement company specializing in cellular nutrition and natural stem cell technology.

Ray Carter, Stemtech CEO, commented, “The Company’s ability to attract someone of Mr. Green’s caliber to our team, reinforces the value proposition we are bringing to the marketplace. His leadership will help us to reach new levels of global achievement.”

Relevium Technologies taps ex-Amazon exec to lead ecommerce

Relevium Technologies announced this week that it has appointed Rohan Mendonza to lead its Amazon business. According to a press release issued by Relevium, Mendonza spent nine years at Amazon, most recently as a Director of Operations.

Mendoza has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Mendonza and the NForce Labs team lead our Amazon marketplace operations and introduce world-class best practices to our portfolio of trusted online brands,”​ said Aurelio Useche, CEO.
