German firm gets patent for butterbur extract
German natural products maker Weber & Weber has received its
first US patent for its butterbur (Petasites hybridus) extract
Petadolex, used for the treatment of eczemas and psoriasis.

German natural products maker Weber & Weber has received its first US patent for its butterbur (Petasites hybridus) extract Petadolex.
The extract is free of detectable levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids and is used for the treatment of pollinosis, dysmenorrhea, eczemas and psoriasis.
The company also has a pending patent application for use of its butterbur extract in combination with various additives and for treatment of a wide variety of indications, including migranes.
Weber & Weber is also involved in phytopharmeceutical and homeopathic preparations, growing many of the plants it uses. Its products are available for distribution and private labeling.
