Ingredient supplier Sabinsa has achieved two additional Canadian health claim approvals on its curcumin ingredients, the company announced this week.

Sabinsa supplies a range of curcumin ingredients, including Curcumin C3 Complex, which supplies three different curcuminoids, and C3 Reduct, which is an ingredient in tetrahydrocurcuminoid form, the metabolized form of the botanical.  This week the company announced the following approved health claims on these ingredients:

On the Curcumin C3 Complex the company received a “Helps support healthy serum triglyceride levels” claim. This applies to a formulation of 500mg C3 Complex with 5mg of BioPerine, Sabinsa’s proprietary black pepper extract.  Absorption is the consistent issue with curcumin ingredients and piperine, the active ingredient in black pepper, is a known bioavailability booster.  The claim on the combination is supported by an RCT showing significant reduction in serum triglyceride concentration in obese subjects.

The second approved claim in on C3 Reduct, which is standardized to 95% tetrahydrocurcuminoids. This is a “Provides antioxidants” claim on a dosage of 100mg of C3 Reduct twice daily.
