Aquaculture New Zealand serves as the representative body for the New Zealand aquaculture industry, which sustainably farms three key species in the pristine New Zealand waters. These species include Greenshell™ mussels, King salmon and Pacific oysters.
Despite being a relatively small industry on a global scale, New Zealand’s aquaculture sector has gained world-wide recognition for its high-quality, nutritious, safe, ethically produced seafood products which are exported to over 75 countries and feature on the menus of some of the world’s top restaurants.
The industry’s commitment to sustainability is unwavering and all three species have been awarded the ‘Best Choice – Buy First’ rating by Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch.
In addition to these food formats, the industry also extracts the natural health properties from the unique and indigenous Greenshell™ mussels and harness that goodness in the form of nutraceutical powders and oils to support the wellbeing of humans and pets.
