Thousands of industry stakeholders and consumers have responded to the call for the grassroots to email, tweet and phone the NY AG calling for transparency, said NPA.
“This industry has a long and successful history of affecting change at the grassroots level when threats arise, which is why it was so important for NPA to organize this campaign and give consumers, retailers, manufacturers and all interested parties the opportunity to stand up and speak out in response to Attorney General Schneiderman’s actions against dietary supplements,” Daniel Fabricant, PhD, CEO of NPA.
“This is an industry that serves hundreds of millions of Americans safely each day, and industry stakeholders and consumers have made it clear that they will not sit by and allow the attorney general to call on the removal of products without showing real data to support such action.
“Each individual who has participated in the grassroots campaign has made a significant contribution in holding officials accountable; making it known that acting without transparency is simply unacceptable. NPA will continue to encourage consumers and industry stakeholders to keep the pressure on the New York attorney general to ensure our message is being delivered and heard.”
