The brand says its latest innovation offers a clinically-supported probiotic that is an effective and affordable option for women seeking to help stabilize hormone imbalance.

Despite nearly 80% of women experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance at some stage in their lives, the gut-hormone axis is not a well-known concept among most consumers. However, Daily Nouri is hoping to change that.

“We’re working to help women understand that getting the right ‘good bacteria’ in your gut is critical to creating the balance your hormones need to do their job,” said Caroline Carralero, founder & CEO at Daily Nouri.

“[Hormonal] imbalances can result in changes to metabolism, weight gain, mood fluctuations and impairments in skin and hair health, as well as disruptions in the reproductive cycle.”

Daily Nouri tapped Dr. Lauren Rubal, a reproductive endocrinologist and physician advisor to the brand, to formulate its new Hormone Balance Probiotic.

“We were able to leverage her clinical expertise and deep patient care experience with the significant influence hormones have on women’s lives to create an effective, targeted solution,” Carralero said.

“She believes that a probiotic targeting the essential role of the gut microbiome in hormone regulation (via the ‘estrobolome’) and its subsequent effects could greatly benefit many women.”

The formula

Each Hormone Balance Probiotic capsule contains a blend of seven probiotic strains, a prebiotic phage blend as well as vegan ahiflower oil to support hormone regulation through improved estrogen metabolism via the gut microbiome.

“Each probiotic strain in the product serves a distinct function,” Carralero explained. “Additionally, the prebiotic bacteriophage aids in removing harmful bacteria (such as E. coli) and alleviating common issues, including UTIs, which affect approximately 6 out of 10 women at some point in their lives.”

Consumer education

As consumers become more familiarized with pre- and probiotics, they may soon be adding yet another microbiome-related word to their vocabulary: bacteriophage.

Phages are viruses that selectively target bacteria. They’ve been shown to be more precise than antibiotics, which kill all bacteria–including beneficial species and strains. With antibiotic resistance more common than ever, fighting off bacterial infections has also become more challenging.

“Phages, although new to the market, are an innovative and highly effective prebiotic for consumers,” Carralero said. “Overall, we observe ongoing growth in both the prebiotic and fiber sectors, with younger consumers favoring prebiotics over fiber.

“Our in vitro studies uniquely demonstrate that the prebiotic phage reduced the growth of harmful bacteria (E. coli) by 99% in just five hours, enabling nearly a five-fold increase in probiotic bacteria growth,” she added. “Such outcomes and effectiveness are what consumers are increasingly seeking and beginning to comprehend within this category.”

Hormone Balance Probiotic with Prebiotics is available now on dailynouri.com and Amazon. The SKU is also slated to launch nationally into retail in February 2025.
