U.S.: Biohm and ADM partner on microbiome formulation for women
Microbiome company Biohm Technologies has joined forced with ADM to launch a new data-driven microbiome formulation called Vivifem, formulated for women between the ages of 45 and 65.
A combination of pre-, pro- and postbiotics to address healthy aging, the product was developed by ADM using Biohm Technologies’ Symbiont platform, an ingredient discovery, selection and formulation tool, along with Biohm’s propriety microbiome dataset to identify microbiome shifts in aging women compared to a younger cohort.
The team then created a formula—which includes probiotic blend Mycosha, prebiotic PreforPro and postbiotic ES1—to modulate the microbiome specifically relative to the target organisms identified. According to Biohm, Vivifem is backed by seven published human clinical trials and dozens of pre-clinical studies.

Australia: Swisse’s new energy range
Swisse, a subsidiary of Health and Happiness Group (H&H Group), is seeking to pioneer Australia’s nootropics consumption with the launch of three new SKUs designed for focus, memory and stress management.
The brand hopes to pioneer the movement with the products that are currently exclusive to Chemist Warehouse and its website. There are however plans to introduce the range into grocery chains as consumer understanding increases.
“Nootropics are quite well established in the U.S., but something which we've seen a lot of emergence and interest in with Australian consumers,” Kerrie Wade, director of marketing for ANZ at Swisse told NutraIngredients-Asia. “We’ve decided, as part of Swisse’s legacy, which is always to be innovative and to lead with science, we will trial and pioneer our own range."
Europe: Probi introduces psychobiotic to Nordic market
Sweden’s Probi AB has launched its probiotic Probi Sense in Sweden, Denmark and Norway to support stress relief and mental wellness.
The supplement combines zinc, iodine and magnesium with Probi’s patented Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HEAL9, a strain backed by multiple clinical studies demonstrating positive effects on memory, concentration and fatigue.
“The strength in the human studies done is that they all confirm that intake of HEAL9 has a positive effect on mental health,” Gunilla Önning, senior science manager at Probi, told Nutraingredients.
“The effect has been shown in different populations like in subjects with acute stress, with moderate stress, in subjects with old age with low grade inflammation and in subjects with mild-moderate depression. This indicates that HEAL9 supports the mental health in a broad way and in many situations.”
