NutraWomen Wednesday: Caitlyn Krebs, CEO and cofounder, Nalu Bio

A biologist by training with an entrepreneurial mindset, Caitlyn Krebs, CEO and cofounder of Nalu Bio, said she’s committed to building a world-class team that will deliver chemistry-derived cannabinoids that solve some of the world’s top health and wellbeing needs.

One area that Krebs is focused on is women’s health. She said the top health challenge for women is weight management.

"We at NALU are really focused on women's health because it's an underserved category in multiple different health areas," she said. "As you age, you naturally gain weight. And so that's been a challenge, particularly in menopause when women are going through menopause."

In order to tackle these issues, Krebs said she relies on partnerships.

"The smartest decision I've ever made is founding Nalu Bio and founding it based on partnerships,” she said. “I'm really excited about one of the partnerships we recently put together with PIPA, an AI and modeling simulation technology company. And so what we're bringing to market is combinations of cannabinoids and bioactives, imagine vitamins, probiotics, proteins, for women's health. And the three areas that we're focused on are weight management, stress and mobility."

In addition to key partnerships, Krebs is leveraging women’s preference for natural products and familiarity with ingredients as a point of entry.

"Women prefer taking natural compounds—things that are not prescription medications," she said. "And so we believe women deserve a platform of products. And we use the bioactives as something that they already know they're taking. They're taking B6, they're taking B12. So why not have a better product for weight loss by adding on a cannabinoid to it? Or there's a cannabinoid for inflammation, CBC and pain, adding those to what they're already taking. So it's not something completely new, but we're using a foot in the familiar to bring them into cannabinoids."
