UK-based healthcare solutions company Vector Consumer Ltd has announced the acquisition of premium collagen start-up Pura Collagen as the brand builder aims to become "the authoritative voice in collagen".

The firm will add the science-backed premium collagen brand to its portfolio which also includes beauty supplements brand SOLV and officially licensed Liverpool FC sports and wellness range.

Pura co-founders Jennifer Mo and Rob Knowles launched their start-up in 2021, offering the only condition specific collagen supplement brand with solutions to improve skin luminosity, support immunity, aid recovery from injuries, manage symptoms of menopause and support quality sleep.

Mo, a nutritional formulations expert with three decades experience in the sports nutrition industry, said: “Rob and I couldn't be more excited for the trajectory of Pura by joining Vector Consumer.

"Since its foundation Pura Collagen was created to deliver clinically proven health products that are peptide condition specific. In our short time,

we’ve achieved amazing omni-channel success, but this union allows Pura to continue to lead the collagen category with innovation because it will now be anchored by the incredible support of the Vector Consumer infrastructure”.

The partners will join Vector's senior leadership team with Mo as director of strategy and implementation and Knowles as supply chain and logistics director.

Further collagen acquisitions planned

"Vector Consumer was formed in Liverpool with a goal to deliver high quality health and wellness products for a wide spectrum of consumers and globally renowned retailers," explained Matt Banks-Crompton, who founded Vector Consumer in 2019. "We’ve delivered an amazing sports nutrition range in LFC and a ‘first of its kind’ brand targeting the seven stages of a woman’s life with SOLV."

The Liverpool FC sports and wellness range offers everything from whey and vegan protein, to EAAs, gummies, vitamins and joint care supplements. It's USP comes from its bold Liverpool FC branding to catch the eye of the hundreds of millions of fans across the globe.

The concept was inspired by the popularity of influencer brands, which enjoy product sales success off the back of strong followings.

Banks-Crompton launched the SOLV brand after seeing the consumer appetite for beauty supplements in Asia and the Middle East. The range includes collagen powders, gummies and on-the-go gel sachets, as well as hyaluronic acid and collagen + CoQ10 gummies.

The liquid beauty collagen gel includes 8,000 mg marine-sourced collagen peptides, plus vitamin C and zinc, the 'triple action' collagen and CoQ10 gummies are also formulated with retinol and vitamin C, while the hyaluronic acid gummies include biotin and zinc to optimize the look of hydrated skin.

"Adding Pura will allow us to become the authoritative voice in collagen," Banks-Crompton asserted. "It's an incredibly significant time for Vector Consumer and what we plan to offer to our industry. The addition of Pura Collagen and its team will allow us to make further exciting acquisitions in our space."
