Orgain debuts gut health formula, expands products line for kids

The 2024 Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA, attracted 3,000 exhibitors, many of which debuted new products.

Nestle acquired a majority stake in Orgain in 2022 to strengthen its foothold in the functional nutrition space, and the company has been doing just that ever since.

“We're debuting several new products, one that I'm probably most excited about is our new Wonder Gut formula," said Andrew Abraham, MD, founder and CEO of Orgain.

"So we have a new Wonder Gut product that has a five-in-one blend. So we have fiber, superfoods, probiotics, prebiotics, adaptogens–everything you want for perfect gut health in one item. The one really important thing about this is historically a lot of these products have tasted really bad, they haven't tasted very good. So we worked really hard to make sure it was a delicious experience. We have it in orange mango and strawberry lemonade and it's extremely, extremely delicious.”

In addition, Abraham said Orgain is expanding its product line for kids. The lineup includes products with low and no sugar, a process that took two years to perfect.

“We started with kids protein shakes a long time ago when I started the brand a couple of years in and those have done extremely well for us," Abraham added.

"Because of that, we went ahead and launched a new protein powder for kids so it has eight grams of protein and far less sugar than the competition. There's chocolate and vanilla, super creamy, [it’s] super delicious and parents can add it into anything. So we're very excited about that launch.

"The other one that we're super excited about is a kids gummy vitamin. So we made a super vitamin. One of the main distinguishing features of this is the fact that it has no sugar. So it's a sugar-free gummy, which today, as you know, a lot of the gummies today are filled with sugar. So we removed all the sugar, added three grams of fiber. It has 50 superfoods, all of the vitamins and minerals in one and it tastes delicious."

Orgain launched its first protein product in 2009. Since then, the company has expanded into plant-based powders, kids' shakes and now gut health Wonder Gut, vitamins and gummies. Abraham said he is excited about what he has in store.

“We're also working on some collaborations that we're hoping to announce in the very near future," he said. "So really we’re trying to bring the best products possible to mainstream and do it through all of the wonderful ingredients that we have."
