Dr. Ross has been working for years to break the taboo around women’s health and close the gender wellness gap. She co-authored a book on female hormone management in 2000–a topic considered taboo by many at the time. She said today, women are just more comfortable discussing their health.
“When we think about what mainstream medicine was talking about, it was kind of pushed off to the side. So back in 2000, when I co-authored that book, it was still a little bit taboo to talk about it, but women were starting to ask the questions like 'how come I feel like that?’ or ‘what is happening with my body?’ or ‘what can I do?’ And what's really exciting and why I love Country Life as a company is because we're always forward thinking about products and we've come out with this new women's line. So I was so excited to be able to work on that because of the research I did on the book. And looking at women now, they're much more comfortable discussing some of their challenges because it's become mainstream and social media has helped with that too.”
Beyond women’s health, Dr. Ross has witnessed an evolution in the overall natural products industry over the past three decades.
“Back in the day when I started as a naturopath, that was not a common term,” said Dr. Ross. “And there's been such a great change in people getting more knowledgeable about it and what it really means. It's about helping people heal in a more natural way. So the evolution in the last 30 years has been phenomenal and it's like we're finally coming into the knowledge that Naturopathic medicine and allopathic medicine can work together and they complement one another. So that's really exciting for me now.”
