The pandemic has had a draining effect on many of us, leading some to reach for a beverage that gives us a little pep in our step. In order to meet consumer demand, players are looking for new and innovative ways to stand out by offering unique and distinct products that capture consumers' attention.

Marquis is one healthy lifestyle brand that is doing just that. In 2010, Christopher Lai and Danny Huang founded Marquis, after noticing the market lacked what they characterized as clean caffeine. Since then, the duo said the category has evolved dramatically.

“There's definitely more brands competing for the same space,” said Lai. “Even our consumer base has evolved. I think now more than ever, consumers want better-for-you products, and they're a little bit more curious about ingredients and what they put into the body. And information is a lot more accessible than it used to be. And of course with social media, the engagement levels are extremely high across the board, with so many brands and so many consumers at the same time. So I feel like it's gotten even more competitive, but the demand for something like Marquis has increased.”

To hear about Marquis’ Asian influence, why they revisited their formulation and what they have in store for this year, listen to the NutraCast.
