The Summit is run in conjunction with the Sports Nutrition Committee of the American Herbal Products Association. Featuring three days of live presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, the Sports & Active Nutrition Summit USA is hosted at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay hotel in sunny San Diego.
We are monitoring the current COVID situation closely, and the health and safety of our community is of paramount importance to us. US scientists are predicting a peak of the Omicron variant by mid-to-late January, and as such, the NutraIngredients-USA team is positive about hosting its annual event for the sports and active nutrition community.
We are working with the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Hotel to ensure we provide a safe environment for all our attendees. Nearer the event, we will be able to provide information on testing (should you need to test) and an update on restrictions that may have come into place.
The Program
This year’s event kicks off with an emphasis on CBD in sports nutrition. While CBD/hemp products are still in a federal regulatory limbo, that hasn’t stopped product developers from flooding the market with new offerings. And the science supporting the use of CBD for sport nutrition products aimed at recovery and other indications is continuing to develop.
Headlining this portion of the program will be Marvin Washington, longtime NFL star defensive end who won a Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos. Washington has become a staunch proponent of the use of CBD for recovery. Washington will share some of his experiences as a player and what those years in the trenches did to his body and to those of other players.
In addition to Washington’s session, the CBD segment will feature an overview of what the science on CBD says presented by noted industry expert Dr Hector Lopez, MD. Joining Lopez will be marketing consultant Steve Hoffmann on the latest trends in product development; market analyst Tyler Dautrich with a look at market metrics and supply chain expert Tim Hitchman of prominent firm CVSciences on how to ensure a validated supply of raw material.
An additional emphasis of the program will center on esports, which is among the fastest growing subcategories of the entire dietary supplement industry. Other sessions will look at how to serve and reach female athletes and consumers, where the latest science on sports nutrition ingredients and diet strategies is going, and more.
