New study explores CBD and CBN for sleep
Releaf app, an application used to track cannabis and CBD use, just wrapped up research which analyzed how CBDistillery’s CBD and CBN work synergistically to improve sleep. MoreBetter uses information collected in the Releaf App to provide data-backed insights on seed-to-outcome trends that inform industry best practices and improve the consumer experience.
How it works
The Sleep Pathfinder Mission included 388 participants who received one free Regular Strength Sleep Synergy CBN + CBD (150mg CBN + 450mg CBD) tincture. During the study, participants used the Releaf App to answer questions every day for a 31-day period about their product usage. Some of the things consumers were asked about included their overall experience and the different elements of their sleep such as how long it took to fall asleep, total number of hours slept, how they felt when they woke up, and if they stayed asleep throughout the night.
Findings
Those who regularly used the tincture found it easier to stay asleep. Participants also reported that they slept for 30-40 minutes longer on average.

Ellese Symons, Vice President of Marketing, Balanced Health Botanicals, the parent company of CBDistillery, told us that the most important finding is that 81% of people stated the CBN tincture helped them achieve more quality sleep.
“The fact that in this study, 81% achieved that with our product is so meaningful to us as a company,” said Symons.
Tyler Dautrich, COO of MoreBetter, said the contract research organization was glad to identify this opportunity with Balanced Health Botanicals to help increase consumer education on cannabinoid-based products.
"Our new white-label technology enables brands to gain custom insights on product usage and performance data, while consumers receive transparent insights on crowdsourced experiences. It's a big success anytime a brand like CBDistillery can use our technology to generate a positive impact in customer satisfaction, retention, and referral metrics, because that means the consumers are ultimately benefiting,” said Dautrich.
More to come
Symons told NutraIngredients-USA that this most recent research is among a series of upcoming topics that analyze CBD’s wellness potential, with future topics focusing a variety of consumer needs.
"We're so excited to see this first round of results in our ongoing partnership with MoreBetter. We believe these findings show that when combined, certain cannabinoids, such as CBD and CBN, can work better together than apart to help amplify what we know to be the entourage effect. Next we will look at how CBG and CBD can help impact those suffering from mild or temporary anxiety, and we're eager to see what those results will reveal."
