NutraWomen Wednesday: Tricia Horst, Co-founder of High Falls Hemp NY

From runways to more natural landscapes, you could say Tricia Horst has an appreciation for beauty. The former top model-turned-hemp grower is the co-founder of High Falls Hemp NY, a business she launched with her husband Rick Weissman in 2018.

Horst grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, working alongside farmers and learning all the essential elements needed to run a farm.

“I worked with workers on the farm. I've driven every tractor imaginable. I've owned a lot of tractors. I had a construction company in upstate New York as well, which has been very successful,” said Horst.

Later on as a young adult, Horst moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting and modeling. She traveled the world and lived in a number of places, including South Africa, where her modeling/acting career collided with health and wellness practices of South Africans.

“It was interesting because those two worlds actually merged...because they did a lot of homeopathic things as well,” said Horst. “They do a lot of very organic farming as well, which taught me a few things about our organic farming.”

Eventually Horst returned to the state of New York, where she had purchased land in High Falls as a young adult. That land would eventually be home to her hemp business, High Falls Hemp NY.
