OmniActive presents new studies in energy, cognition, weight management, & eye health
"We are dedicated to propelling our industry with strong research to further solidify the efficacy and safety of our offerings. We are pleased at how well each of these clinicals was received by the scientific community, as well as the attention from the industry we are gaining because of them," said Deshanie Rai, PhD, VP, Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs for OmniActive.
"These four posters represent our continued efforts to build a robust breadth of science to substantiate our position within the categories we specialize in," added Rai.
Improving Energy & Cognition
A pharmacokinetic (PK) study on Xtenergy indicated that 200 mg of the sustained release caffeine (SRC) ingredient led to a slow and sustained plasma level of caffeine and this was associated with feelings of being more alert, less tired, better overall mood, less jittery and less tense for a longer period.
“SRC could be beneficial for those involved in sustained operations demanding peak cognitive & physical performance for a longer time,” stated the abstract in Current Developments in Nutrition.
Weight Management
The company conducted a second study that further proves its initial findings from its Metabolic Rate I study. The new study found that Capsimax (capsaicinoids) supplementation increases the resting energy expenditure (REE) of an individual.
“Our study findings demonstrate that Capsimax supplementation increases REE in males and may represent a useful nutritional strategy to help weight management efforts,” stated the abstract.
Improving Eye Health
OmniActive began a clinical program on a new integrated actives blend that addresses eye discomfort. The study showed that the multi-ingredient supplement containing lutein, zeaxanthin, curcumin and vitamin D3 improved eye hydration and moisture, tear stability and quality, and overall eye comfort in individuals with mild to moderate dry eye symptoms.
“Our multi-ingredient formulation demonstrated significant improvement in dry eye conditions including eye hydration and moisture, tear stability and quality, and overall improvements in eye comfort,” stated the abstract.
To further expand their eye health and performance portfolio, OmniActive also conducted a bioavailability study on a custom lutein (L) and zeaxanthin (Z) ingredient which was developed to support eye health. The ingredient showed an enhanced bioavailability of lutein and zeaxanthin which can be advantageous to individuals looking to increase vision protection and performance.
“The enhanced bioavailability behavior of this proprietary formulation can be advantageous for individuals looking to quickly improve their L and Z status and enhance their vision protection and performance,” stated the abstract.
Delivering a solution
"OmniActive prides itself on being a partner of choice for customers seeking to differentiate with innovative and clinically validated ingredients," said Kimberly Smith, CMO at OmniActive.
"It's not just about providing a premium ingredient-it's about listening to the needs of our customers and working closely together with them to deliver a solution that helps them grow their business,” noted Smith.
According to Sabrina Di Blasio, Director, Corporate Communication & Branding for OmniActive, Capsimax and the L Z ingredient are currently being written up for peer-review publication.
