The Los Angeles, CA-based company initially announced the deal with Walmart in March, with 3,000 stores mentioned. A recent announcement indicates an expansion of that initial number to 3,800 stores nationwide.
“We are grateful to Walmart for their commitment to the Tru Niagen brand and for their collaboration in planning this launch,” says ChromaDex CEO Rob Fried, “We are excited to make our product available to Walmart customers.”
Tru Niagen is now available in a lower priced 100 mg doses in addition to the ‘classic’ 300 mg doses. Both options are available in-store, online with same-day delivery, and in-store pickup options at select locations. New outer packaging was also created for the Walmart launch.
NR
Tru Niagen is a branded nicotinamide riboside (NR), which is a form of vitamin B3.
As reportedly previously by NutraIngredients-USA, nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a potent precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). NAD is an important cellular co-factor for improvement of mitochondrial performance and energy metabolism.
As organisms age, NAD levels drop, which leads to a decrease in mitochondrial health; this in turn leads to age-related health issues. By boosting NAD, NR may increase mitochondrial health and induce the creation of new mitochondria.
Tru Niagen has been shown to increase NAD+ levels safely and efficaciously in multiple published human trials. It has achieved acceptance by the world’s four leading regulatory bodies: the US FDA, Health Canada, the European Food Safety Authority, and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia.
Tru Niagen is supported by two successful NDI notifications (NDIN 882 in 2015 and NDIN 1062 in 2018), as well as a successful GRAS notification (GRN 635).
