Ex-Premier League footballers Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Ozil have teamed up with the University of Westminster to launch a new range of sports-focused supplements under their brand UNITY.

The ‘U ULTRA’ supplements combine ingredients such as turmeric, chicory, palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and saffron to offer products that boost energy, support immunity, aid recovery and focus the mind.

“We want to help everyone take control of their health,” explains ex-Arsenal and German international Mesut Ozil, who founded UNITY alongside fellow Arsenal teammate Flamini.

“Being healthy starts with access to healthy food. That's why we’ve teamed up with The Felix Project, to donate two healthy meals to schoolchildren in need, for every supplement sold.”

The four-product range includes Energy Sport Pro, a vegan and gluten-free-friendly supplement that infuses the core active ingredients of vitamin B6 and zinc with turmeric and beetroot.

The product is also certified with Informed Sport, which provides assurance that products have been tested for a wide range of substances prohibited in sport.

U ULTRA range

Developed alongside the University of Westminster’s Professor M Gulrez Zariwala, the supplements look to elevate energy levels in order to train and perform effectively.

“We have developed a new supplement range that uses the optimum dosage of the most effective, clinically-proven ingredients in the market globally,” says Professor Zariwala who is the Director, Centre for Nutraceuticals at the University.

“This ensures maximum absorption in the body for optimum performance. The supplements target a range of health and wellbeing goals, from a lack of energy to focus and more.”

The range also includes ‘U ULTRA Immunity,’ a supplement clinically-proven to ‘improve immune function, reduce tiredness and promote mental clarity.’

Available as a 1-month supply (60 capsules) as are all the products, the supplements include turmeric extract, chicory inulin and beta glucans to achieve the desired immune benefits.

Other products in the range include ‘U ULTRA Recovery’ and ‘U ULTRA Mind’ which blends bioactive ingredients PEA, Ashwagandha extract and L-theanine to address shortfalls in recovery or lapses in the mind.

Professional experiences

“Given what we’ve all faced with the pandemic, it’s never been more important for people to look after their health,” says Flamini, a French former professional footballer, who played for Marseille, Arsenal and Milan.

“Having worked with the world’s top coaches and performance experts, we understand first-hand how everything from training burnout to stress and poor nutrition can affect your everyday performance.”

“We collaborated with scientists at the University of Westminster to produce the most effective supplements, using the highest quality, clinically-proven, highly bioavailable ingredients and our trademarked UltraTech technology and delivery system.”

Manufactured in the UK, the supplement range is guaranteed vegan and gluten-free and contains no added preservatives, fillers or binders.

Unity can boast of other green credentials with the VCAPS capsules used, which are certified by the Vegetarian and Vegan Action Society

These capsules are made from Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), also known as hypromellose, - a vegan, plant-based cellulose, a natural polymer and fibre, which is considered to be safe for human consumption.
