The idea that a full moon can impact mental health, provoke strange behavior, and even cause illness dates back to thousands of years ago, and that belief is still strongly held by many today—including Mary Berry.

Berry recently launched Cosmos Vita, an astrology-inspired vitamin line that blends functional ingredients. Available in three varieties, Beaming, Supportive and Gutsy, each product aims to support a balanced body, mind and spirit.

A self-described serial entrepreneur, Berry got her start years ago by making candles in her garage. Eventually she expanded her offerings and volume, most notably scaling the NATIVE deodorant brand from 500 bars a week to 24,000 a day.

“Manufacturing is kind of manufacturing, especially between beauty and supplements. There's a lot of the same rules and a lot of the same guidelines. I product-developed probably over 500 products in my time at Texas Beauty Labs,” explained Berry. “So product development for me is very easy, it kind of doesn't depend on the category. So for Cosmos Vita, the most important thing was to find a really good partner. So I looked around through all the different gummy manufacturers, and I found one who I really liked their certifications, I liked the people that I talked to, they were very open about their process and procedures. And that's really important to me, as a former manufacturer. And so that's why I picked them. And then after I picked them, that's when I kind of leaned into what SKUs we wanted to offer.”

Berry said the concept behind the astrology incorporation is all about self-care.

“It’s not like if you’re a Libra you should definitely take Gutsy,” laughed Berry. “It's kind of more like a self-care thing because to me, self-care is really spiritual,  astrology is really spiritual and it's the ultimate way to connect yourself to the world, you know, by taking care of yourself.”

That self-care message carries through in marketing. Berry said being inclusive and  making sure that her brand is meeting everyone where they are in wellness is a top priority.

“I think making small steps in your wellness is really important and also accepting where you are. I can't be a yoga size two person overnight. I just can't. And so I accept where I am and I also want to take care of my health and wellness. So I'm going to take small steps to do that no matter how long that takes.”
