With immunity remaining high on the agenda for consumers and many industry players looking to tap into this burgeoning interest, NutraIngredients' global team will uncover the latest in science, innovation and regulation in a series of webinars next month.

Building on the success of our inaugural series in May 2020, the Immunity Broadcast Series 2021 will provide ten category focused and regionally specific events aired between May 4th and 25th. Each webinar, hosted by the USA, APAC, and EMEA teams, will include live and interactive presentations and panel discussions with top industry experts.

“Immunity continues to be front of mind for consumers across the globe, and there are so many different ways of thinking about the topic. So, we’re getting the band back together,” said Stephen Daniells, Editor-in-Chief of NutraIngredients-USA. "The global NutraIngredients team will explore the topic of immunity from new perspectives. For the US market, I’m excited by our program to examine immunity through the lenses of sleep, the adaptogens, and active nutrition.”

Just a few of the industry experts joining the series include: Chris Kilham is a medicine hunter, author and educator; Dr. Andrew Myers, Co-Founder, CEO & Chief Scientific Advisor at NutraGenetics; Dr. Manfred Eggersdorfer, Professor for Healthy Ageing at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG); Audrey Gueniche, Expert Claim Activator at L’Oréal Research & Innovation; Dr. Amanda Rao, Founder and Principal Investigator at RDC Clinical; Evan Hayes, Managing Director Asia Pacific at Factors Group; and Dr. David Nieman, Professor & Director at Appalachian State University Laboratory, North Carolina Research Campus.

Nikki Hancocks, Trends and Innovation Editor of NutraIngredients-EMEA, says with region specific events focused on botanicals, active nutrition, and clinical research, this series is set to inform and inspire.

"As well as bringing our audience up to speed on the latest and greatest in scientific research, these sessions will reveal some of the key challenges and opportunities in developing and marketing products with immune health benefits.

“I look forward to getting stuck into the controversial topic of Vitamin D and looking at the science behind many other ingredients sold for their immune health benefits. I will host an episode devoted to the fascinating area of botanicals and adaptogenic mushrooms and our Science and Technology Editor Will Chu will host a show which unpicks the role of immunity in the sports nutrition sector.

"With expert speakers ranging from scientists to manufacturers, market analysts to startup founders, we hope to cover the breadth of questions on the lips of our readers right now.”

Gary Scattergood, Regional Head and Editor-in-Chief at NutraIngredients-APAC, adds: “In APAC we will be shining the spotlight on clinical research, botanicals and the microbiome, with expert insights from Japan MNC Kirin, Australian brand-owner McPherson’s Health and a leading COVID-19 expert from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

“With consumer demand for immunity products soaring, these broadcasts will bring together leading experts to assess the existing scientific evidence, the scope for new product development, the opportunity for gold-standard clinical research, and the marketing and regulatory challenges across the region.”

This year's series will include an additional 'Immunity and Beauty' focused episode (May 25th. 3pm CET) looking into how immune health is increasingly frequently demanded in the personal care sector, hosted by Kacey Culliney, Editor at CosmeticsDesign Europe.

“With the insatiable rise of wellness and wellbeing, recently fuelled further by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, beauty brands worldwide have started to align to develop products and experiences that soothe, restore and protect," Culliney says.

"And within this wellbeing surge, we’ve seen the sharper notion of immunity come to the fore – for consumers and industry alike – and parts of the cosmetics and personal care space believe there are grounds to work on here, in formulation and delivery terms.

"This is the sort of topic that gets me excited as an editor, because it’s nascent in research and development terms yet bursting with potential in consumer expectation terms. I’m thrilled to have a group of highly-esteemed experts walk highlight the key opportunities for immunity and beauty in the future, as well as discuss the intricate challenges ahead if industry wants to make this a mass market success.”

All EMEA events will air at 3pm CET, US events will take place at 11am CT, and APAC events will broadcast at 3pm SGT. Attendance is FREE but pre-registration is required.
