Schulick told NutraIngredients-USA that he is excited to provide a true herbal infusion that takes tea to a new functional category, providing a meaningful serving of key actives with clinically proven results
With at least 32 known polyphenols, Cistus incanus is one of the richest sources of polyphenols-phenolic compounds. It also has antioxidant activity and that supports the human immune system.
The New Chapter founder said the company used its extensive sourcing expertise to locate, test, and validate potent ingredients to develop this phytoactive-rich cistus formulation.
Schulick said Cistus incanus is the most important discovery he has yet encountered in his 40+ years working in the natural products industry.
“In my entire career, I’ve yet to see another herb deliver such powerful results,” said Schulick. “The people of the Halkidiki peninsula in Greece have been drinking Cistus incanus as tea for thousands of years. To this day, people in this region are known for living beyond the age of 100 more than in other parts of the world and Cistus incanus is, in my opinion, one of the key reasons why.”
Rapid immune response
Modern clinical studies have demonstrated that Cistus leaf extractives have powerful antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and biofilm-breaking qualities. In a 24-week animal study, Cistus was shown to prevent both the Ebola virus and HIV from attaching to host cells. No resistant HIV viruses were found against Cistus in the study. The research also suggests that the multiple antiviral components in Cistus are what make it effective against Ebola.
According to the company, the formula is clinically proven to strengthen the immune response within 2 hours.
“Immune Therapy Cistus+ Infusion has been clinically shown to strengthen the immune response through the enhancement of both immune surveillance and activation. Our infusion enhances immune system surveillance through the modulation of key cytokines and by a significant increase in the migration of monocytes for a more alert immune system. Immune Therapy also increases the expression of an activation marker called CD69, meaning the immune cells are more ready to respond. These three changes occur within 1 to 2 hours of drinking just one 12-ounce serving of Immune Therapy. The increase in immune surveillance and activation means that the immune system is more alert, and therefore it can respond more effectively to immune challenges,” explained Schulick.
A ‘wiser immune system’
Schulick said the current paradigm uses language like “boosting” or “stimulating” immunity.
“In our judgement, this is a limited approach that may have unforeseen consequences. A wiser immune system is one that is, yes, alert and ready to respond to immune threats as quickly and efficiently as possible. But it is also able to return to its healthy, balanced state in the shortest period of time. A wiser immune system is the result of reinforcing your body’s systems including your microbiome with a broad array of phytoactives, and only when that is fully embraced, can we expect the optimal response,” explained Schulick. “So, it is thrilling to provide a daily, nourishing immunomodulating product that delivers rapid results backed by an intense focus on purity, potency, and science—one that is serendipitously also pleasant tasting and not another pill or gummy loaded with sugar or additives.”
Synergy
In addition to a potent dose of cistus, Immune Therapy Cistus+ Infusion contains synergistic botanicals like vitamin C-rich rosehip, blackcurrant leaf and chaga mushroom.
“I have specifically formulated Cistus incanus with a unique complement of synergistic herbs and a select mushroom, all of which have immunomodulating benefits in their own right. It is particularly thrilling that we have taken game-changing, life-changing herbs and have made them even more profound through formulation and that we have proven their power with science,” Schulick said.
With no plans to retire, we asked Schulick if he might incorporate Cistus incanus in other products in the future.
“How could I not? It is thrilling to offer such an innovation to the marketplace today,” said Schulick, who was named a NutraIngredients-USA NutraChampion in 2019.
