Vitafusion just announced they have added CBD gummies to their line-up of vitamins. The new line of offerings feature CBD from full spectrum hemp extract and other natural phytocannabinoids.
“As CBD explodes in popularity, the market has become flooded with offerings from mostly unknown manufacturers and sources. We want consumers to feel confident entering the category, knowing they are getting a high-quality supplement from a brand they love and trust,” said Bruce Weiss, Vice President of Marketing for Vitafusion. “We are committed to ensuring the quality of our CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract line.”
The new Vitafusion CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract Gummy Vitamin line includes:
- Vitafusion CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract (5mg CBD per gummy) with natural phytocannabinoids in a natural, red raspberry flavor.
- Vitafusion CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract Sleep Well (10mg CBD per gummy) with Melatonin to promote sleep in a natural, grapefruit lychee flavor.
- Vitafusion CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract Chill Mood (10mg CBD per gummy) with L-Theanine to promote calm in a natural, blackberry flavor.
“When formulating the CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract product line, our R&D team implemented stringent standards for the safety and quality of our CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract gummy vitamins,” said Annahita Ghassemi, Director of Global R&D – Product Safety & Clinical Affairs with Church & Dwight Co., Inc. “As with all Vitafusion products, we conduct comprehensive safety assessments to ensure product safety when used as directed. As a trusted brand, consumers can expect nothing less with our new CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract line.”
Vitafusion said their CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract gummy supplements are made with natural fruit flavors, without synthetic dyes and do not contain any artificial sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup, gluten, or dairy. They add that their manufacturing practices ensure the identity, purity, quality, strength, and composition for the CBD Full Spectrum Hemp Extract line.
The forray into CBD is a big step for Church & Dwight, who owns Vitafusion
CBD risk management requires education and vigilance to stay on top of a rapidly growing industry that is surrounded by a lot of question marks.
“Until the legal pathway for CBD is clear, companies that market most CBD products must tread carefully. Others choose to market and sell CBD-infused foods and supplements based on a higher appetite for risk and a 'safety in numbers' assessment in the face of no visible FDA enforcement,” said Ian A. Stewart, an attorney at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP. He told Bloomberg Law, “It is important for any company that markets and sells CBD products to conduct an insurance coverage review with an attorney and broker who understand the nuances of the CBD insurance market. Although insurance coverage for hemp-derived products is expanding rapidly, problematic endorsements and exclusions remain with respect to limitations on coverage as a result of regulatory penalties, product seizures, resulting business interruption and tort damages premised on violations of law.”
