Grenade has once again expanding its infamous Carb Killa protein range with new biscuits. Recently awarded ‘Product of the Year’ in the Protein Bar category of the 2019 Product of The Year Awards, Grenade Carb Killa bars have led a plethora of high protein product innovation including shakes, brownies and spreads and now biscuits have joined the line-up to appeal to the mainstream consumer looking for a healthier everyday treat.
The new chocolate-coated biscuits come in a snack pack including two biscuits inside, in either double chocolate or salted caramel flavour. Each biscuit contains 109 calories and 6g of high-quality protein, with only 0.8g of sugar.
Juliet Barratt, co-founder and CMO of Grenade, told NutraIngredients these biscuits aim to appeal to consumers looking for a healthy and nutritious snack as the protein market is now driven by informed, mainstream shoppers simply looking for healthier, more balanced alternative to traditional snacks.
“The Biscuit category is valued at £2.5bn (Kantar Worldpanel 52we 31 December 2018) with the three key drivers being indulgent taste, convenience and health. As such, we believe that Grenade is perfectly positioned to appeal to all current biscuit Customers.
“Protein driven categories continue to benefit from an influx of new shoppers with a wide demographic profile. Although muscle toning and sports usage are still important factors, the category is now being driven by informed, mainstream shoppers simply looking for healthier, more balanced alternative to traditional snacks.
“Considering that the main reason to purchase Protein Bars is as a snack between meals (usually as an alternative to chocolate) it is critical that any healthier snacking range delivers on “taste” and not just functionality alone. These ‘Everyday Treats’ contribute around 40% of category value and are driving the greatest amount of growth in the category.”
