OmniActive earns NSF GMP registration for manufacturing facility, advancing botanicals business

OmniActive Health Technologies has received Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) registration by NSF International for its manufacturing plant in Hosur, India, a facility previously owned by Indfrag prior to the two firms merging.

The recent registration will mark OmniActive’s second GMP registered facility in addition to original plant in Pune, India that is GMP and HACCP system compliant.

The Hosur plant manufactures authenticated and standardized natural extracts including Garcinia cambogia, green coffee, valerian and natural caffeine, as well as turmeric, green tea, boswellia, fenugreek, senna, coleus, and guarana.

As OmniActive’s managing director Sanjaya Mariwala previously told NutraIngredients-USA, its specialty botanicals and extracts business will continue to be a strategic focus for the company as it supplies 10 out of top 30 herbal ingredients listed on Herbalgram satisfying growing consumer demand in the area.

“This entails integrated supply chains, clinical substantiation, regulatory and marketing support, sustainability, transparency, innovation, and quality assurance/management,” Mariwala continued.

“We believe anyone operating in today’s herbal market must have all of these pieces in place in order to be successful.”

Meeting GMP registration

Cheryl Luther, general manager of dietary supplements, sports nutrition and beverage quality at NSF International, confirmed that OmniActive's Hosur facility has the proper methods, equipment, facilities, and controls in place for compliance with dietary supplement GMPs.

"NSF conducted an extremely comprehensive audit that included inspection of our manufacturing facility, process control, raw material specification and control, facility and equipment maintenance, and much more," Chaitanya Desai, COO of OmniActive Health Technologies, said.

"We did this voluntary certification to demonstrate to our customers and industry that we hold ourselves to the most stringent standards of safety and quality to deliver an even deeper level of quality assurance."
