UNPA signs memoranda of understanding with three new single-ingredient trade groups

The United Natural Products Alliance, a trade association for the dietary supplement industry, has signed memoranda of understanding agreements with three single-ingredient associations and their administrative umbrella, the Trust Transparency Center.

The agreements, signed with the Global Curcumin Association, the Global Prebiotic Association, and the Vitamin K2 Association, will “help advance consumer confidence, industry standards and compliance with federal laws and regulations governing natural product ingredients and dietary supplements,” according to a press release from UNPA.

The new agreements join previous MOUs UNPA has in place with the CoQ10 Association and the Natural Algae Astaxanthin Association, also administered by the Trust Transparency Center (TTC).

“UNPA supports the mission of TTC and these new organizations and is pleased to expand our partnership agreements to include the TTC team,” said Loren Israelsen, UNPA president.

“It is through collaboration and the sharing of resources that the supplement industry will be able to further standards and science to ensure that consumers have broad access to natural health products of superior quality, benefit, reliability and sustainability.”

“UNPA is a universally respected, broad-coverage organization, and through this MOU, we can help complement its work with our deep ingredient and category expertise,” said Len Monheit, managing partner for TTC. “The aspirations of our groups align so well in building a more responsible, transparent and higher-quality industry.”

The Global Curcumin Association

“The Global Curcumin Association, through the establishment of quality standards, works to provide assurance of the level of quality in the curcumin marketplace through ingredient and product testing and to continue to raise awareness and education of the benefits and science supporting curcumin.”

The Global Prebiotic Association

“The Global Prebiotic Association increases public awareness about the production, quality and science of prebiotic products, expands manufacturer understanding of the solid science supporting both well-known and newfound benefits, and creates needed transparency within and throughout the market.”

The Vitamin K2 Association

“The Vitamin K2 Association and its members are committed to establishing Vitamin K2 category-wide quality standards and adherence to a code of ethics and the USP monograph for vitamin K2.”
