Meratrim’s weight management potential supported by RCT in overweight people

Supplements of InterHealth’s proprietary blend of Sphaeranthus indicus flower heads and Garcinia mangostana fruit rind may reduce body weight in overweight people by 8.8 pounds, compared to placebo, says a new study.

Data from 57 overweight men and women indicated that 16 weeks of supplementation with the Meratrim supplement were associated with an 11.2 lbs reduction in body weight, compared to 2.4 lbs in the placebo group, according to results presented at the 56th annual American College of Nutrition in Orlando.

Results of the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study also found that 800 mg per day of Meratrim was associated with significant reductions in BMI of 1.9 kg/m2, compared with 0.4 kg/m2 in the placebo group.

Waist size and hip size also decreased by 3.9 and 4.1 inches in the Meratrim group, compared with reductions of 1.5 and 2.0 inches in the placebo group.

Cardiovascular measures were also reported by the researchers, with Meratrim supplementation associated with decreases in LDL by 21.0 mg/dL, triglycerides by 30.0 mg/dL and total cholesterol by 19.3 mg/dL compared to placebo.
