The United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) will host the one-day ‘Personalized Medicine: Opportunities and Challenges for the Natural Products Industry’ seminar October 25 in Salt Lake City.
An increasing number of studies are unlocking the potential of personalized medicine, exploring how environment, lifestyle and genetics play defining roles in health and the incidence of chronic disease. DNA kits and diagnostics are already commercially available for consumers to access information about genetically determined health conditions and predispositions based on environmental and hereditary markers.
“To stay relevant, the natural health products industry must provide a patient-centered approach that addresses specific concerns,” said Loren Israelsen, UNPA president. “This seminar will help companies develop the strategies needed to serve this emerging market of highly informed consumers that understand the importance of personalized medicine to their health, wellbeing and longevity.”
Key topics to be addressed during the seminar include:
• The history, development, and applications of epigenetics and personalized health and medicine
• Case studies from market leaders, including how one of the country’s largest supplement retailers has already incorporated personalized health in its product line
• The legal, legislative and regulatory challenges
