Almased weight loss product to debut on Canadian store shelves

Almased, a weight-loss product pioneered first in German market, will debut on Canadian store shelves under a partnership with distributor True North Nutrition.

The product has been available in Canada up to now either via phone orders over over the Internet.  True North Nutrition will have an exclusive distribution agreement to expand that footprint to heath and food drug mass retail channels across Canada.

"We receive requests from customers who are located in Canada on a daily basis," said Mike Mader, vice president of Almased USA, Inc. "A lot of them ask about a local store that carries the product."

"At True North, our vision has always been to provide our retail client partners with the highest quality and most innovative brands in the nutritional supplement industry. Almased has been very successful in their present markets and we are excited to bring them into Canada,” said Mike Spriggs, president of True North Nutrition.

Almased, which has been on the market in the United States since 1998, was developed in the mid ‘80s in Germany.  It is a high-protein meal replacement weight management product made from fermented soy protein with honey and milk protein via a yogurt powder.  The product, supplied in powder form to be mixed into shakes,  is marketed with an accompanying diet plan.
