CRN senior scientist John Hathcock to retire

The Council for Responsible Nutrition’s (CRN’s) senior VP, scientific & international affairs, Dr John Hathcock, will retire from the trade association on July 5.

From then on, he will serve as a part-time consultant, focusing on international issues and continuing his work in the area of risk assessment for nutrients.

Chief executive Steve Mister said: “We have been privileged to have someone of Dr Hathcock’s caliber, intelligence and dedication represent CRN in its pursuit to make dietary supplements safe for the world, and make the world safe for dietary supplements.”

Dr. Hathcock is best-known for his work in explaining why RDA-based Upper Levels (ULs) are not scientifically appropriate for use by regulatory bodies; refining the principles of risk assessment as applied to nutrients, and challenging regulation based on non-scientific ‘precautionary’ principles.
