Benjamin Kligler, MD, from the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, FDA’s Daniel Fabricant, PhD, and stevia pioneer Jim May are just three of the top experts on the agenda.
The event – to be held at SupplySide MarketPlace – will feature presentations from, and an opportunity to network with, a renowned faculty with extensive experience in their respective areas of expertise, including regulatory officials from the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and others.
Laser focus
Michael McGuffin, AHPA president, said: “The AHPA Botanical Congress will provide those involved in the development, distribution, sales and marketing of botanical products--especially dietary supplements--with a unique, state-of-the-industry perspective about the real-world challenges and opportunities facing the trade in 2012.
“It's the only educational event with a laser focus on these products, the customers who buy them, and the processes needed to successfully bring them to market.”
High class program
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Kligler on the topic of “Integrating Botanicals and Supplements into Medical Practice”. Dr Kligler will draw on years of experience with the practitioner community, hospitals, medical schools, and government agencies, to provide a blueprint through examples and case studies for creating a sustainable-growth market for these products in the professional channel.
Other presentations will cover the state-of-the-market, global supply-chain trends, topical legal and regulatory issues, the latest scientific and product research, and attendees may also attend an optional four-hour forum on botanical identification.
Top presenters include Daniel Fabricant, PhD (FDA), Kevin Williams (Pure Branding), Steve French (NMI), Peggy Binzel (Podesta Group), Paul Flowerman (PL Thomas), Merle Zimmermann, PhD (AHPA), Jim May (Wisdom Natural Brands), and analytical experts Trish Flaster and James Neal-Kababick.
