MegaFood issues joint health product recall

MegaFood has issued a voluntary product recall for four lots of its Essentials Joint Strength formula after tests showed chondroitin doses were lower than those stated on the label.

The discrepancy between labelled doses and actual doses of chondroitin sulphate were detected during routine testing by the company, and was quickly traced back to one supplier, said the company. The supplier has since been eliminated from MegaFood’s approved vendor list.

“MegaFood’s reputation and success is built on our rigid quality control standards and commitment to excellence,” said Carl Jackson, president of MegaFood. “While the packaging error on these particular lots of Essentials Joint Strength do not pose any health hazards for consumers, the voluntary recall reflects our total dedication to providing customers with the highest, premium quality products.”

Consumers, members of the industry, and other concerned parties have been asked to email questions to questions@megafood.com, or call 1-800-848-2542, ext. 204.
