Gay says while the campaign appears to have been successful in delivering new measures industry can live with, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 [s3002] has not been withdrawn and could, in theory at least, be supported by any other member of Congress and advanced.
“The Bill has not been withdrawn,” he tells Shane Starling. “Another Senator could co-sponsor it, pick it up, try to move it forward as well so that’s one reason we are continuing to keep our efforts to urge the industry to write their Senators about how bad the legislation itself is.”
“We had a good first inning in this game but the ideas that are in the McCain Bill are still out there. The industry should not go back to sleep after this wake-up call. We need to remain vigilant.”
