DSHEA turns 15 and growing up fast

The Dietary Supplements and Health Education Act (DSHEA) celebrated its fifteenth birthday in October – a birthday some thought would not be achieved.

While calls continue for it to be scrapped or amended because it is seen as failing to regulate the dietary supplements industry, that industry typically sees a GMP and AER-bolstered regulation functioning better than ever before.

Daniel Fabricant, the vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs at the Natural Products Association (NPA), shared his thoughts on the regulation to kick off a series on the topic.
