The company’s US division has announced the worldwide launch of thirteen ingredients that can be used to provide any combination of both topical cosmetic products and supplements.
“We believe the market is getting closer to supplements manufacturers offering combination topical and supplement products and cosmetics companies doing the same – a move that is likely to bring the two industries closer together,” said Laurent Leduc, Vice President of Frutraom USA.
Leduc says he believes that it is niche supplement and cosmetics players that are kicking this trend off, while the bigger personal care players such as L’Oreal and Estee Lauder are likely to get more involved as the category evolves.
Supplements and cosmetics industries getting closer
“This is likely to lead to lines such as shampoos for hair loss that are sold with supplements that also treat the same symptoms in a complimentary manner,” he told CosmeticsDesign.com, sister publication to NutraIngredients-USA.com.
Israel-based Frutarom says its new line, known as TopicRange, will be divided into two categories – anti-aging and sun care, together with oily and acne skin.
The anti-aging and sun care line contains over a dozen ingredients, some of which have already been included in its Swiss botanical line.
Anti-aging line targets environmental damage
Targeting damage to the skin caused by environmental and UV rays, the line contains properties that help to rehydrate the skin, maintain the health of the dermal layer and to provide protection.
The line is highlighted by Alguard, a multifunctional skin active shield derived from red micoralgae.
“It is one of the most advanced beauty ingredients existing in the cosmetics market today and provides significant and anti-aging and skin-protection benefits for a growing youth-concerned, health conscious demographic,” Leduc said.
A range of natural-based ingredients
Also included in the anti-aging and sun care line are ingredients featuring Green Mate, Prink Rock Rose, Soy, Olive lear, Schisandra berries and red vine.
The line of ingredients targeting oily skin and acne features a pumpkin seed based ingredient, linum flax and a proprietary blend of botanical extracts know as Z-Care.
The company says that all the new launches have been tested and clinically supported for both oral and topical efficacy, as well as safety.
