IADSA hosts Latin American supplements event

Global dietary supplements regulations and their relation to markets in South America was the theme of an event of a congress hosted by the International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) in January.

Held in Lima, Peru the event was attended by representatives from the international dietary supplement sector as well as officials from Peru, Venezuela and the Andean secretariat.

IADSA’s Latin American Working Group has been working to help Latin American nations implement regional regulatory harmonisation initiatives.

“The workshop gave the Andean secretariat and regulators the opportunity to debate the key regulatory issues in the region and the potential for change in the light of international regulations and practice,” said IADSA Chairman Byron Johnson.

“One of the aims of IADSA is to encourage greater communication on the regulation and science behind dietary supplements, and we will continue to encourage further detailed discussions at national level.”
