New supplements company signs first agreement

Neuro Nutrition, a new company formed by a group of industry veterans to manufacture and supply scientifically validated supplements for the body and mind, has signed its first marketing agreement and has a raft of own-brand products on the launchpad.

Under a reciprocal agreement inked last week, Neuro Nutrients is to sell Profile Health's hormone profiling services which allow customers to have supplements specially formulated to suit their needs, while Profile will sell Neuro Nutrition's own brand products.

Neuro Nutrition expects to announce two other partnerships within the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, its first three products - called Neuro Nutrition Krill Oil, Noni Rholdioli, and Cognition Ignition - will be available from 1 March.

Four clinical tests have been carried out using omega-3-rich krill oil, according to president and CEO Michael Schuett, indicating that it could help relieve the symptoms of several conditions including PMS and high cholesterol. The key ingredients in Noni Rhodioli, rhodiola crinulata and noni, have also been subjected to clinical trials which suggests that they have energy and immunity boosting properties respectively.

According to Schuett, the company will be carrying out its own scientific trials to back up the cognitive-enhancing claims of Cognition Ignition, as well as further trials on krill oil.

However its flagship product, "a block-buster neuro product that will revolutionize the industry," is still six to eight months away, Schuett told NutraIngredients-USA.com.

In the first instance Neuro Nutrients products will be available through direct marketing to consumers to allow the company to generate cash flows immediately.

"The strategy is to get the products into consumers' hands, let them try them and get some feedback," said Schuett, who also plans to raise brand awareness by attending consumer shows.

In six months Schuett intends to introduce the Neuro Nutrition products to retail outlets, at around the same time as he plans for the presently privately-funded company to go public.

Neuro Nutrients was founded this year by Schuett, former CEO of ergonomic company Sit Rite International and national sales manager for Nature's Sources who also helped NSF International launch its good manufacturing practices program.

Amongst others involved in the venture are: Darrin Duber-Smith, former president of Green Marketing and executive director of the International Association of Natural Product Producers; biotech industry veteran Steve Parkinson; Lifeline Therapeutics founder Michael Barber; and herbalist, formulator and regulatory affairs specialist David Litell.
