It is the first representation agreement for Valensa in the European Union and will help it expand the market for astaxanthin in food and supplements. The carotenoid gained novel foods approval in the European Union in May this year.
Chesham will also distribute all of Valensa's other botanical extracts, including Zanthin natural astaxanthin complex, Cranberol cranberry seed oil and powder, AstaCran astaxanthin/cranberry seed oil, Valerex 2.5% valerian extract beadlet for oral skincare formulations and the full range of USPlus saw palmetto oils and powders.
Many products in the range are extracted using high pressure supercritical carbon dioxide extraction.
Efrat Kat, marketing manager in Europe/Japan for Valensa, said: "The purity and all-natural character of our botanical extracts makes them ideally suited to European requirements."
