Supplement maker sees patent protection

Vitamin and supplement maker Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research is looking to confirm future growth by protecting its oil-to-powder manufacturing processes.

The Las Vegas-based firm said this week that it has filed the first of a series of patent applications for its O2P, oil-to-powder, processes.

"Intellectual property protection for our processes and products is important for our continued growth," said Godfrey Yew, president and CEO of the company.

The increased sales of the firm's proprietary O2P product line is the single greatest factor in the record sales of the first quarter, added the CEO.

According to the firm, its proprietary process transforms most edible oils into a free-flowing powder form without the application of heat, 'delivering more of the natural active components than competing processes.'

In addition to nutraceuticals, the powdered oils are targeted at the food ingredient market, livestock feeds and cosmetics.
