ChampionLyte regains old distribution partner

Sports drink maker ChampionLyte Beverages is to increase distribution with the reopening of business with J.A.M.B. Business Enterprises, the low-carb specialist that distributed its earlier formulation.

Pompano Beach, Florida-based J.A.M.B. already distributes Atkins Nutritionals products and will introduce the reformulated ChampionLyte to more than 2,400 low-carb retailers around the United States.

ChampionLyte claims to be the only sports drink that contains no sugar on the market.

The company was facing significant financial difficulty last year at the beginning of last year but after being taken over by an investor group its fortunes appear to be changing. The new owners are aiming to reinforce their position in the niche sugar-free category in a bid to fight off the tough competition in the sports drink market, currently worth more than $10 billion, but dominated by the drinks giants.

J.A.M.B. will also include ChampionLyte's other activity, Old Fashioned Syrup Company syrups, in its inventory later this year.
