Five companies have joined the dietary supplement trade association Council for Responsible Nutrition this month, boosting its visibility and lobbying power further.

The new members include Canadian producer of fatty acid-rich oils, Bioriginal Food & Science, which is already a member of the CRN's omega-3 working group, and oat ingredient specialist Nuture, of Devon, Pa.

Nutraceuticals developer NuLiv Science, German ingredients firm Nutrinova, also part of the omega-3 working group, and custom packaging provider Merical Vita-Pak, of Anaheim, California are also new members of the association.

The CRN has also welcomed Samuel Caster of Mannatech and Mike Vaughan of Nashai Biotech to its board of directors.

"It is gratifying to know that as an association we are doing the kinds of things that attract companies who want to be a part of CRN and that encourage industry executives to serve on our board," said Annette Dickinson, president of CRN.
