Drug delivery firm Capricorn Pharma has signed a deal with International Specialty Products (ISP) giving ISP worldwide marketing rights to its range of microencapsulated ingredients for supplement, OTC and oral care applications.

Capricorn's microencapsulation technologies can be applied to a variety of active ingredients for taste and odor-masking and active stabilization in tablets, films, bars and chews.

"Over a very short period of time, we expect to offer customers a strong product portfolio including microencapsulated ingredients in the analgesic, cough and cold, allergy, gastrointestinal, vitamins and minerals, nutritional supplements and oral care categories," said Steve Olsen, senior vice-president of marketing and corporate development at ISP.

S. Rao Cherukuri, president and CEO of Frederick, Maryland-based Capricorn, said that the alliance gave the company valuable access to ISP's global pharmaceutical marketing and sales network.

"Through the combination of our complementary strengths we plan to bring more innovative products to end-users faster and in a more comprehensively supported way than would otherwise be possible," said Cherukuri.
