Nutrition ingredients supplier DMV International, part of billion euro dairy company Campina, is the first US company to be approved by L.R.Q.A. for HACCP certification under the new RvA standard.
The HACCP plan relates to products - protein hydrolysates and bioactive peptides - produced by DMV International at its Delhi, New York facility.
"This is of critical importance to us, as we provide ingredients to the clinical and infant nutrition markets, " said Stephen Paolicelli, QA/QC manager at DMV International.
He added that the HACCP plan is part of an ongoing quality program by the company that includes validation efforts and ISO certification.
Used across the board in the food industry, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
"Becoming the first US company approved by L.R.Q.A. under the new RvA standard demonstrates DMV International's drive toward excellence," said Steven Braun, president.
This week aLF Ventures, a partnership between ingredients company DMV International and Farmland National Beef Packing, announced that the FDA had endorsed its activated lactoferrin - a milk protein developed to fight bacteria on meat - with GRAS status.
