Heart healthy gravy

Road's End Organics, the US manufacturer of organic dairy-free Chreese products, introduces three cholesterol- and gluten-free gravy mixes onto the market.

Road's End Organics, the US manufacturer of organic dairy-free Chreese products, has introduced three new gravy mixes onto the market.

Branded as wheat and gluten free, cholesterol and fat free, and vegan, the products are also the first dry gravy mixes to bear the USDA Certified Organic Logo for containing more than 95 per cent organic ingredients.

"After they experience the incredible flavor and gain the health benefits, these consumers will come back for more of our products and for more organic alternatives in general," said an upbeat Matt Koch, president of the company.

Road's End Organics' gravy mixes feature organic brown rice flour and organic tapioca starch, both of which are gluten-free. According to researchers at the university of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, one in every 133 Americans may have celiac disease. It is now believed that more than 1.5 million Americans suffer from the disease, making it twice as common as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and cystic fibrosis combined.

In addition to being gluten free, the gravy mixes do not contain cholesterol - another major American health concern - or saturated fat, candida albicans, whey, casein, soy or nuts.
