Aloe vera supplier Aloecorp has joined up with Mexico's asi group, to distribute its raw materials to a new international market.

The company, which is aiming to extend its sales worldwide, says demand for aloe vera in finished foods has grown dramatically in Mexico, estimated to have a population of 100 million. It currently has 1,400 acres of aloe fields in Mexico, with 9 million Aloe vera plants in the ground, along with a processing facility in Gonzalez.

The asi group will distribute Aloecorp's Active Aloe and Certified Plus ranges of gel, whole leaf, spray dried and freeze dried powder aloe vera extracts to nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries in Mexico.

Sergio Morales, business development director of asi group, said: "Mexican people are aware of the traditional benefits of aloe plants. If we add the fact that the industry is willing to maximize product quality and profitability in order to compete in the marketplace, the potential of Active Aloe is highly attractive."

Aloecorp recently set up an agreement with Brown Chemical to distribute its ingredients in the northeastern US. It already has distributors in more than 20 countries globally.
