US plant extract company Unigen Pharmaceuticals has signed distribution agreements with six partners in Europe and Latin America, expanding its sales presence in international markets.
The company, which supplies proprietary plant-derived ingredients to the natural products and pharmaceutical industries, has teamed up with Lake Chemical in the United Kingdom and CH Erbshloh in Germany, Poland, Austria and Switzerland.
In the Nordic region, Bionord will represent Unigen in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway for pharmaceutical and health food products while Pharmalogic will distribute the firm's products for speciality channels such as MLM's, magazines and TV in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Italy, Greece and Poland. Zeus Quimica has also been signed for distribution in Spain and Portugal and Will & Co is to represent Unigen in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Unigen is expected to finalise another agreement by the end of this month for distributor representation in France.
Some of the new partners have a long, proven record representing aloe vera producer Aloecorp, one of Unigen's sister companies, said the firm. Unigen has also expanded into the Brazilian market with representation from Ayalla Marketing. All of the distributors market to the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical industries.
"Many international companies are answering the call for finished products made with novel and efficacious active ingredients that are backed by sound science," said Derek Hall, Unigen's president and CEO.
Unigen Pharmaceuticals focuses on the discovery of botanically derived therapeutic compounds that address consumer health needs. Both Unigen and sister company Aloecorp, are subsidiaries of Univera.
