Innovating PS for supplement use

Enzymotec has launched two phosphatidylserine-based products, Heart PS and Omega PS, targeting heart health and brain health respectively.

Israeli nutritional oils firm Enzymotec has launched two phosphatidylserine-based products, Heart PS and Omega PS, targeting heart health and brain health respectively.

HeartPS delivers the benefits of PS together with the cholesterol-reducing effect of MultOil, a proprietary combination of phytosterol-esters and DAG. OmegaPS combines PS with omega-3-based MultOil, which reduces the 'bad cholesterol' and joins the PS in providing nutrition for the brain.

Both products are available in either fluid or waxy forms for use in dietary supplements and functional foods.

"We believe that the multipurpose combination approach of HeartPS and OmegaPS will set a new standard in today's competitive marketplace. These multi-health benefits products are answering the consumers' desire for convenience, efficiency and simplicity, especially when targeting health and fitness-oriented populations," said Dr Avidor Shulman, director of innovation at Enzymotec.

The Food and Drug Administration recently confirmed the health claim that PS may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction and also that it may reduce the risk of dementia in the elderly.

Enzymotec recently launched SharpPS, a high quality phosphatidylserine for brain health.
