Enzymotec targets cosmeceutical makers

Israeli nutritional oil company Enzymotec claims that its MultOil blend can also be effective in skincare applications. The company is targeting manufacturers of anti-aging treatments and cosmetics.

Israeli nutritional oil company Enzymotec claims that its MultOil blend has been found to have a broad efficacy profile in skincare applications. The company is targeting manufacturers of creams, balms, lipsticks and lotions wishing to add an anti-aging property to their products.

"Enzymotec is able to transform any natural oil into an anti-aging ingredient, by strong collagen stimulation and active wrinkle reduction. Furthermore, studies reveal that it has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on sensitive and damaged skin together with excellent moisturizing and softening properties," said Dr Dorit Platt, head of the sterol-modification research group at Enzymotec.

Recent experiments by Dermac Laboratory revealed that due to its emulsification properties, MultOil allows castor-free formulations, important for lipsticks and lip care products, said the company. Cosmetic manufacturers will therefore be able to claim "all natural" ingredients. Dr Platt said the company's processing of natural oils guarantees that the natural ingredients are kept intact.

Enzymotec recently launched MultOil, natural oils enriched with phytosterols-esters and DAG, for use in foods and nutraceuticals.
