German gelatine producer the GELITA Group is to rename all of its international operating units, with effect from 1 June, the company announced last week.

The firm, with headquarters in Eberbach, Germany, said that the GELITA name will represent its global network. All divisions, including Sweden's Extraco, Germany's DGF STOESS , VlaPro in the Netherlands, and Davis Gelatine based in France, will be simply distinguished by their location.

Davis Gelatine in Australia will become GELITA Australia, Dynagel and Kind & Knox in the US will merge into GELITA USA, and UK-based Gelatine Products Ltd will be GELITA UK.

The GELITA group, the gelatine division of German firm DGF STOESS and world market leader in gelatine, said that the new common name will create a clear positioning and uniform picture. Recent consumer research revealed that the different unit names, retained after acquisition by the group, presented a misleading and non-transparent situation, according to the company.

Gelita recently reported on research which found that gelatine stimulates collagen synthesis in cartilage cells and may be able to treat arthritis.
