Leading orange juice brand Tropicana has introduced a juice with less acid for people who suffer from heartburn.

The reduced-acid version of Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice has the same nutrients as the original variety, but with less acid, reducing the risk of stomach irritation, the PepsiCo-owned company says.

More than 60 million American adults suffer from heartburn, or one in four, according to a Tropicana survey. It also found that almost half of all heartburn sufferers are eliminating orange juice from their diets, a valuable source of essential vitamins and minerals. And many of these are not replacing these nutrients with alternative nutritious foods.

Tropicana Pure Premium Low Acid orange juice contains vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate and potassium and is available nationwide in 14-, 16-, 64-, and 96-ounce sizes.

"We know one of the biggest barriers to drinking orange juice is its acid content, and we're proud to have developed a proprietary process that reduces the acid without sacrificing the taste," said Kathleen Rasmdell, senior director of marketing at Tropicana Pure Premium.

Florida-based Tropicana also markets Grovestand and HomeStyle juices, Tropicana Pure Premium Calcium juices and Double Vitamin C with Vitamin E nutritionally enhanced juices.
